Total U.S. bankruptcy filings rose 11% to 574,314 in the twelve-month period ending December 31, 2025, driven by a 7.1% increase in business filings and an 11.2% rise in non-business (personal) filings. While filings have increased each quarter since mid-2022, they remain below pre-pandemic highs, with 47 states seeing increased personal filings in 2025.
